The alpaca is a South American camelid famed for its soft fleece that is sheared and spun to produce one of the world's finest and most luxurious natural fibres. Soft as cashmere and warmer, lighter and stronger than wool, it comes in more colors than any other fibre producing animal (approximately 22 basic colors with many variations and blends). It is also hypoallogenic as, unlike sheep's wool, it contains no lanolin.
Our 'Fino'4-ply and 'Quito' aran yarns contain 100% alpaca fibre - ideal for warm winter hats, scarves, gloves, cardigans and jumpers. It also felts well.
